MACH16 SLC SSDs include (Singel-Level Cell)-models with capacities of 100GB and 200GB and an output of up to 26,000 IOPS. They have a data transfer rate of up to 250MB/s (read) and 180MB/s (write).
MACH16 SSDs are from now on available in all ESVA systems, the EonStor DS and EonNAS family (in models where 3.5-inch drives can be mounted) with a hard drive connectivity of 6Gbit/s SAS and all solutions of the EonNAS 3000-series from Infortrend.

The virtualization of clients, servers and storage systems offers many approaches to improve the availability and performance noticeably by using SSDs.
Virtualized clients (Citrix XenDesktop, VMware View) benefit directly by reducing boot times; the STEC SSDs entirely play off their consistently high access performance.
A perfect application scenario for the combined operation of STEC SSDs with SAS hard disks (7,2k and 15k) in Infortrend ESDS systems, however, is the so-called "Profile Driven Storage" on VMware vSphere 5.0. With this feature allocated storage can be connected to an ESXi 5.0 host in various performance categories (gold, silver and bronze).

Through "Storage DRS" the VMs (virtual machines) always get the appropriate storage assigned - especially critical VMs are moved automatically to the performant SSDs, less critical VMs run on 15k HDD or 7.2k HDD storage.
Solutions for Storage Virtualization (FalconStor, DataCore SANsymphony) can use MACH16 LUNs directly as read and write cache, and for storage tiering.
