New NEC T30A and T60A LTO tape libraries with up to 180TB capacity
Category: Press, Newsstarline Computer GmbH announces the launch of new, more compact Linear Tape Open (LTO) T30A T60A and tape libraries that provide the world's highest-density cartridge with 2U and 4U rackmount chassis.

The NEC T30A and T60A Tape libraries are midrange data backup solutions that enables companies to automate their backup processes. They offer high capacity and high reliability in a compact form factor.
Both products come with the integrated key management tools for data encryption as well as *partitioning which enable high security protection. In addition, their remote management system facilitates offsite data management via a web interface. The intuitive administration screen allows easy monitoring, control, configuration and library servicing.
The NEC T30A and T60A support different generation LTO drives which enable data migration from former generation to newer generation. They are compatible with all major archive and backup applications including Symantec NetBackup, IBM TSM, and BrightStor ARCserve™.
The NEC T30A takes up just two standard height units in a 19-inch rack and it has a capacity of 18 data cartridges. The system can be upgraded from 18 to 30 cartridges with a software license. The device can be equipped with up to two half height LTO 4 or LTO 5 drives. It has a maximum storage capacity of 90 TB (compressed).

The NEC T60A takes up four standard height units in a 19-inch rack and has a capacity of 48 data cartridges. The system can be upgraded from 48 to 60 cartridges with a software license.
The device can be equipped with up to four half height LTO 4 or LTO 5 drives. It has a maximum storage capacity of 180 TB (compressed) supported by dual power supply modules.
Linear-Tape-Open libraries are a key component for data backup and archive storage infrastructure. They are widely used to address multiple layers of protection including the retention of offsite and offline copies of data. LTO tape drives provide native AES 256-bit encryption to help protect data.
In addition to a data rate of up to 140 MB/Sec and 1.5 Terabytes of native capacity, LTO 5 provides an innovative partitioning feature called Linear Tape File System (LTFS) that allows access to data on LTO tapes in a manner similar to that of a removable hard disk drive and offers directory tree access to tape files.
The LTO program has also announced a product roadmap through generation 8 allowing for compressed cartridge capacities of up to 8 TB for generation 6, 16 TB for generation 7 and 32 TB for generation 8.
The NEC T30A and NEC T60A will be available from starline starting in August this year.
