GPU-Server ESC8000 G4 by ASUS


The ASUS GPU server, using 4 U in the rack operates with two Intel Xeon  processors and can be equipped with up to 3 terabytes of RAM. The eight drive bays, which can be accessed from the front and can be quickly connected to the on-board SATA controller. Optionally you can use hardware RAID controller for fast SAS disks and SSDs. In addition, the ESC8000 G4 also offers an M. 2 interface for SSDs according to specification 22110, 2280, or 2260.

Of its ten PCIe expansion slots, up to eight slots can be used for GPU cards. Fully equipped, the fast calculating machine achieves around 112 teraflops (floating point operations per second) according to single-precision calculations. For comparison: A server without GPU support calculates floating point operations about 200 times slower.

With so much computing power, the built-in CPUs and GPUs produce a lot of waste heat. Thanks to the ingenious ventilation concept with front-parallel and redundant fan placement, as well as dedicated air tunnels for individual GPUs, the developers are able to cool down the fast calculating machine optimally. A further protection against server downtime is provided by the fail-safe redundant power supplies, each with 1600 watts. The GPU server is connected to the network via two 1 GbE ports. Another port is used for administration of the machine.

The ASUS engineers also developed an very efficient way to operate the system. For complete remote server administration, for example, the administrator logs in via the management interface "ASWM Enterprise" and modifies the required settings via the very clear portal. They can use it to simply flash the BIOS or call the Task Scheduler.
