The NS722TB3 lets you quickly upgrade your Thunderbolt notebook, workstation or server with LTO tape drives. Two SAS drives from the leading LTO manufacturers can be inserted into the desktop enclosure.
The LTO tape drives are connected via an SFF-8482 interface (including power supply) with 6 Gbit/s. This enables users with Macintosh workstations or servers, for example, to quickly add LTO tape drives.
This allows users, for example, with MacBook Pro - which usually do not have a host bus adapter installed for connection to the LTO system - to back up their data to tape. Another advantage is that the expansion enclosure also works as a SAS bridge thanks to the integrated HBA.
The administrator can also dock JBODs or RAID systems to the external miniSAS port (SFF-8644). Any computer connected via Thunderbolt 3 is thus able to use the NS722TB3 to back up data to tape while simultaneously streaming video from the connected RAID system.
