Mellanox direct-attach copper cables provide cost-effective alternatives to fiber in 25 GbE Ethernet applications. The passive cables contain a single pair of wires that operate at data rates of up to 25 GbE. They conform to the SFF-8402 SFP28 standard, and each of the SFP28 ports includes an EEPROM with product information that can be read by the host system. Cables in the series up to 2 meters support IEEE 802.3by CA-25G-N (Cable Assembly No-FEC) and operate at low latency. Cables from 4m to 5m support IEEE 802.3by CA-25G-L (Cable Assembly Long) with RS-FEC (Reed Solomon Forward Error Correction) enabled. For cables of 2.5m and 3m, there are two versions supporting either CA-25G-N or CA-25G-L.
