Software Defined Storage
Software-defined storage: the flexible solution as a solution
Software-Defined Storage (SDS) enables new directions as a modern data storage technology. It allows you to separate the actual provision of capacity, the protection of the data itself and the control of its placement from the actual physical hardware on which the data is ultimately stored.
With SDS, the administrator is able to easily replace, upgrade and expand the storage hardware. To do this, he does not even have to change established operating procedures or retire formerly expensive hardware.
Depending on the virtualisation layer, SDS solutions hide vendor-specific hardware features and thus enable flexible designs of the respective solution.
