The sophisticated storage boxes support USB 2.0, USB 3.2 Gen1, USB 3.2 Gen2, and Thunderbolt 5 via a single connection. The fast RAID systems are available with 4, 6, 8, and 12 drive bays. As an operating system-independent storage system, installation is possible without additional software or drivers. To ensure the necessary security of the data stored on it, it supports RAID levels 0, 1, 10, 3, 5, 6, 30, 50, 60, single disk, and JBOD (the 4-bay models do not come with RAID levels 30, 50, or 60). The model presented here has built-in SAS-SATA drive ports. Variants with the suffix “N” in the type designation also feature an NVMe interface.
These compact storage devices are suitable for use wherever large amounts of data need to be quickly available at individual workstations. This is particularly true in the media industry, for example in audio or video editing and photo compositing. Since there must be no disturbing noises in these areas, Areca engineers have installed intelligent cooling in the ARC-8050T5U. It continuously adapts to the ambient conditions by automatically regulating the speed of the brushless fan.
