The Mellanox MC2210310 family is based on Vertical Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser (VCSEL) technology with QSFP+ designed for use in 40 GbE Ethernet and 56 Gbps Virtual Port Interconnect (VPI) systems. This AOC family offers high port density and configurability, as well as significantly longer reach than passive copper cables. Since the AOC is hot-pluggable, it is easy to install and replace. The MC2210310 family features an SFF-8685 compliant QSFP+ port on the electrical side towards the host system. It consists of four multi-mode optical fibers (MMF), each operating at data rates up to 14 Gbps. The transmitters have input equalizers that compensate for signal attenuation across the host PCB. The receivers, meanwhile, have programmable output amplitude and predistortion.
