Mellanox fiber optic cables from the MFA1A00 based on QSFP28 VCSEL (Vertical Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser) are designed for use in InfiniBand 100 Gbit/s EDR systems. These AOCs are popular interconnects for very fast High Performance Computing (HPC) environments because they offer predictable latency and require very low power (2.2W). Since they are hot pluggable, they are easy to install and replace. An MFA1A00 cable has an SFF-8665 compliant QSFP28 connector on the electrical side.
