Active Optical Cables (AOC) are used to network 25GbE Ethernet systems. The Mellanox MFA2P10 series uses high-performance circuit technology to ensure high performance with low power consumption, providing high port density and extensive configurability, as well as a much longer range than passive copper cables. The AOC has an SFF-8402 compliant SFP28 port installed as standard. It contains a fiber-optic transceiver that can handle data rates of up to 25 Gbps.
