Double-layer immutability for maximum security

The core value of Open-E JovianVHR lies in its unique “double-layer immutability,” which protects your backups even against the most aggressive attacks:

1. Linux Hardened Repository: This layer uses the XFS immutable attribute to ensure that backup data cannot be modified or deleted for a specified period of time. In addition, a zero trust design is applied that uses single-use credentials to deny attackers permanent root access.

2. ZFS Immutable Snapshots: The second line of defense is based on the ZFS file system. The ZFS snapshots created are read-only by nature and therefore immune to encryption or deletion by malware.
