Proxmox for Every Use Case: From Virtualization Hardware to Backup Servers

Proxmox is based on a modified Ubuntu kernel. This means it can run on virtually any x86 hardware. We put together appropriate configurations based on our customers' preferences and requirements.

	For example, we would set up a basic configuration for beginners as a single-node setup. Storage configuration, interfaces, and capacities can be selected individually.
	In the mid-range segment, we could switch to a slightly more advanced ZFS configuration with asynchronous I/O. We will add the necessary components.
	We implement our high-end solutions as hyperconverged infrastructures that run on a Ceph cluster. Computing power, storage, and networking all run on the same nodes and are fully managed via Proxmox VE.

	For the entry-level model, we recommend a cost-effective HDD configuration. To speed up the relatively slow HDDs, our technicians install a fast NVMe cache, known as the “special vdev”.
	For even more demanding backup jobs, our top-of-the-line backup server in a full-flash configuration is the ideal solution. Upon request, we also offer LTO expansions—whether as a single drive or in the form of entire libraries.

	If necessary, Proxmox Datacenter Manager can also be run in a VM. However, we recommend installing it on a dedicated server.

	The hardware requirements for Proxmox Mail Gateway are very similar to those of Proxmox Datacenter Manager. It can be run as a VM or on bare metal.
