The P5 "Archive" module add-on ensures future-proof archiving and a flexible storage strategy
With P5 Archive, it is possible to move data from productive storage to archive storage and store it on cost-effective tape media. This frees up expensive server storage space while reducing backup times. Later on, you can consolidate your archive storage with the P5 Data Mover and manage it using the well-designed GUI.
You have two options for this:
- Move the data from the existing archive storage to the new archive storage. Once all the data has been moved according to plan, the data carrier can be deleted.
- To increase redundancy, the Data Mover copies the data to the new archive storage. This means that the original stock in the archive storage remains unchanged.
Move forward
With this new, multi-level storage concept, you can store data on different storage media depending on its value, reusability and cost. The data can be easily migrated or copied between the storage levels. A migration plan is executed at regular intervals and selects the data according to a predefined age.
