A highly available SAN from the EonStor DS family from Infortrend
Infortrend offers solid technology in the DS class, which is washed in all kinds of water.
The solution for your storage problems
A RAID family from budget to high-end
The RAID systems of Infortrend’s EonStor DS family are designed for the classic frontload design in two to four units. Depending on the housing, they can therefore be designed for small SFF data carriers (2.5″) with 24 slots or for large LFF hard disks (3.5″) with 12 to 24 drives. Expansion options allow the administrator to connect additional enclosures and integrate a total of over 400 data carriers into a system.
The user is just as flexible in designing the host ports within the DS family. Their modular structure allows for example to use SAS, Fibre Channel or iSCSI as required. Even existing systems can be easily upgraded later – for example from SAS to Fibre Channel in 32 Gbps. Thus the investment in this system remains protected for a long time.
In terms of functionality, all members of the product family impress with features such as thin provisioning, snapshots and local replication. Additional services can be integrated through add-on options depending on individual needs: SSD caching, for example, further increases system performance. Synchronous or asynchronous replication mirrors the data on a second system and thus also enables highly available security. The automatic distribution of the data on differently fast data carriers according to the frequency of their access (auto-tiering) can also be added.
The DS Series is ideal for cloud computing, databases, virtualisation, 4k video editing, backup and monitoring.
- RAID Security
- Secured controllers
- Modular system components
Optimum in price and performance
Even the lower DS segment has over 700,000 IOPS.
Due to a harmonious design of the system components, the members of the DS family achieve up to 750,000 end-to-end IOPS. A sequential throughput of up to 11,000 MB/s in reading and 5,500 MB/s in writing also allows everyday operation without annoying waiting times.
Since they can also be operated in an all-flash or hybrid configuration, they can easily handle even the most demanding applications such as VDI or database applications. With the optional SSD caching, the system then achieves a further boost – especially for hot data.
With SANWatch to a web-based administration
Intuitive management of the Infortrend DS family
SANWatch makes the administration of Infortrend devices easy and effective. Clear and easy-to-understand system status messages make it easy to identify any errors and to correct them without the need for extensive IT support. In addition, the RAIDWatch function provides an overview of the existing RAID sets, improves performance and makes management easier.
The integrated Smart Media Scan is even easier to use: it runs unnoticed in the background without affecting system performance. Its permanent supervision ensures the integrity of the stored data by preventing data errors and damage.

In 2018, Bernd Widmaier celebrated his 25th anniversary with Starline. With great experience and broad knowledge – combined with high customer orientation – he heads our sales team. However, he also contributes plenty to sales himself and frequently represents Starline externally at events. The VFB fan has an excellent knowledge of various vertical markets, such as Mac, video storage and media streaming, which earns him the exhibition booth support at the IBC in Amsterdam every year.
