GIGABYTE's ARM server series is based on Cavium SoC solutions. Because of the configuration capabilities of Cavium processors, GIGABYTE designed ultra-high performance dual-socket rackmounts. The result was storage, networking and expansion platforms never before found on standard form factors. These products are designed to deliver superior performance in professional media servers, big data analytics, network function virtualization, and many other applications. As high-density multi-node platforms, they have been optimized for energy efficiency and compute performance and are suitable for both private and public data centers. The core - the Cavium ThunderX CPU - consists of a server-on-a-chip (SoC) with up to 48 ARMv8 cores. In addition to the high number of high-performance cores, this SoC offers high memory bandwidth, large memory capacity, integrated hardware accelerators, fully virtualized cores, scalable Ethernet fabrics and many interfaces. Their compact design also allows the systems to be installed on a standard micro ATX motherboard - DDR4 memory technology included. Thus, the smallest models even fit into a 1U case.
