Switches from the 8700 series improve the performance of MPI operations through SHARP (Scalable Hierarchical Aggregation and Reduction Protocol) technology, thereby reducing the amount of data that must traverse the network. This in turn enables comparatively high fabric performance of up to 16 Tbps non-blocking bandwidth with port-to-port latency of less than 90 nanoseconds. QM8700 switches from Mellanox thus offer forty ports with a full bi-directional bandwidth of 200 Gbit/s each.Faster servers combined with high-performance storage and their applications, ultimately cause data bandwidth requirements to steadily skyrocket. Therefore, high performance computing (HPC) environments and enterprise data centers (EDC) need every last bit of bandwidth, which can thus be provided with these high-speed InfiniBand switches.
