Silent servers

Efficient quiet operators for open-plan offices

Easily overlooked: the silent server

If your data center sits in the same space as your staff, you need a discreet partner—a custom silent server.

Standard server chassis were designed for data-center halls: they maximize compute power, while noise control ranks low. Yet many offices can’t avoid locating central compute and storage capacity—whether for space constraints or cable and interface limits—right next to employees.

For exactly those cases, we’ve developed a low-noise server line that keeps fan and drive sounds to a minimum, sparing your team’s nerves while still delivering top-tier performance with effective cooling.

Zealbox Z70 (subfamily: Silent Server) form an open hardware platform that can be installed in different housing variants to suit the customer's performance and interface requirements. However, the Z70 servers have one thing in common: a single or dual socket board based on Intel. In addition to significantly lower power consumption, this processor generation also offers considerable performance advantages.

In combination with the up to four terabytes of RAM in the 16 memory banks of the Supermicro board, there are no longer any performance bottlenecks. They are therefore ideally suited for virtualization, databases and hosting or as high-availability storage. Our Z70 servers offer space for 8 to 36 SFF and/or LFF drives in the various housing variants from two to four height units. The basic Zealbox Z70-08R2 model has a 2U rackmount housing with eight LFF drive bays. Additional interfaces, controllers or other options can be added as required. We also do our best to realize special requests. For example, this model is a particularly quiet version from the Z70 series.

Quiet workplaces through silent servers

Our product managers optimized every key factor—airflow, fan choice, drive type and RPM, add-on cards, CPU configuration—to ensure smooth, near-silent operation while maintaining adequate cooling.

The result: acoustic output below 40 dB, so a server can run in an open office or medical practice without disturbing daily work.

FAQ - Storage

Here you will find the most important questions about our storage solutions.

Why is a local (“on-premise”) storage system so important despite the cloud?

For highly critical or latency-sensitive workloads in particular, outsourcing to the cloud alone is often not enough. A local system provides the necessary speed and control: the data remains in your company, which enables fast, synchronous processing and a high standard of security. For example, you can run time-critical applications smoothly and at the same time benefit from the advantages of the cloud for backup or archiving.

Which storage systems are suitable for my company?

We offer solutions from small SMEs to large enterprise operations. Whether you need a compact RAID system for a few terabytes, a high-availability NAS for multiple locations or a JBOD to expand capacity with hundreds of drives, our experts can help you make the right choice and offer a wide range of form factors, protocols and equipment variants.

How does Starline ensure reliable data security?

Our storage systems are state of the art. The stored data is then protected in various ways: this can be RAID technologies, modern file systems such as ZFS, erasure coding, replication, snapshots and/or encryption options. Our industrial grade hardware is assembled in Kirchheim and tested in a burn-in test. This is how we guarantee a long service life for your storage systems.

Can JBODs be added to my existing storage setup?

Absolutely. Many of our systems have a modular design so that you can easily add more drives via JBOD (Just a Bunch of Disks) expansions. This allows you to flexibly adapt the capacity to growing data volumes at any time without having to purchase a completely new solution.

How does Starline provide support during and after installation?

We support you throughout the entire life cycle of your storage system - from the initial consultation to installation, commissioning and ongoing maintenance. Our technicians are always available on weekdays; we also offer a 24x7x4 service on request. We also support you with customs and financing issues and take care of firmware updates and any special requests.
