Girls-Day 2026 @ Starline

The proportion of women in the IT sector currently stands at 19 %. We remain 100 % certain that this figure needs to be higher.

As it does every April, Girls’ Day took place again in 2026—an event that has been held since 2001.

Girls’ Day is designed to give girls a chance to get a taste of careers in technology, IT, the trades, and the natural sciences. After all, these are fields where few women currently work.

So, on April 23, three young women arrived at Carl-Zeiss-Straße 27–29. Our trainer and sales professional Phong Hoàng, technical trainee Jonas Veit, and HR specialist Julika Trunsch took the small group under their wing.

After the obligatory round of introductions, information about Starline Computer GmbH, and a subsequent tour of the facility, they got down to business.

Under the guidance of Production Manager Susanne Manz and technical trainee Jonas Veit, the aspiring technicians assembled a server together.

Afterward, they experimented together on a test server and explored the unique characteristics of a server compared to a standard PC. They simulated scenarios such as a fan failure or a dead BIOS battery.

Our trainee also showed them just how loud a server can actually get, how long it sometimes takes to boot up, and what measures are taken to ensure reliability at the professional level.

„The girls worked really hard and were very attentive. We can always use trainees like that.”
Susanne Manz, Production Manager

Conclusion

This gave the tech-savvy participants a chance to get a taste of the theoretical and practical work involved in being a so-called Value Added Distributor—as Starline refers to it in the industry. And maybe they’ll be inspired to do an internship or apprenticeship with us. After all, we’re always looking for great people!
