Proxmox Backup Server 3.4 released
More speed, more control, more efficiency
With the extended snapshot selection for sync jobs, only encrypted or verified backups can now be replicated between instances - a clear added value for hybrid and georedundant setups.
Tape backups also benefit: More parallel worker threads during chunk read increase throughput rates and make tape-based backups more efficient.
A new feature is a statically linked backup client that can be used independently of Proxmox VE on any Linux system - for granular file backups outside of classic VM environments.
Under the cover, Proxmox is based on Debian 12.10 (“Bookworm”) with Linux kernel 6.8.12-9 and optional kernel 6.14 for new hardware. ZFS 2.2.7 is also on board.
Proxmox Backup Server 3.4 is open source (AGPLv3) and available immediately. Installation is done via ISO image or upgrade via APT. For enterprise customers, Proxmox offers support subscriptions from EUR 540 per server - including unlimited storage and backup clients.
