Software from Germany

In fact, it is very easy to summarize the positive aspects of P5 Archive, as it has an exceptionally wide range of functions. This is one of the reasons why the file and media archive is used in a wide variety of areas.

It is used in government offices and agencies as well as in infrastructure companies, industry, research institutions and universities, marketing agencies, media, film and television production, and architectural and design firms.

Another reason for its popularity is the excellent German support. This is hardly surprising, as Archiware P5 is developed in Germany and is also distributed from there.

Powerful in media/digital/production asset management

Media professionals in particular appreciate the integration with numerous MAM/DAM/PAM systems. MAM (Media Asset Management) manages audiovisual content such as video and audio, DAM (Digital Asset Management) organizes general digital files such as images or documents, while PAM (Production Asset Management) specifically controls production data and workflows in media productions.

„P5 Archive makes data archives clear, secure, cost-efficient, and usable in the long term—with automated media management and perfect integration into professional tape workflows.”

Multilingual

With a price/performance ratio that is remarkable in the industry, this powerful archiving tool acts as a universal media manager on almost all platforms, from macOS, Windows, Linux, and FreeBSD to the NAS platforms QNAP, Synology, NetGear, and TrueNAS.

In addition, P5 Archive, like the other Archiware modules, works independently of the specific storage system: disks, tapes, and the cloud are all suitable archive destinations. It is also very user-friendly: data can be moved to the archive using drag-and-drop. This is possible with the free P5 Companion App extension.

Focus on security

Archiware really shines when it comes to cybersecurity with LTO as a storage medium: This means you can run your backups and archive backups on LTO, and P5 has its own LTO driver from Archiware. With P5 Archive, you can also save in the LTFS exchange format. Existing LTFS tapes can be imported into the archive catalog.

Airgap mit LTO

This also allows customers to implement the media break or air gap from disk to LTO tape, which is so important for security and effectively protects them from cyber attacks. For example, archive tapes can be safely stored in a steel cabinet. After all, anything that is not online cannot be infected. The archive catalog still displays the contents at all times.

Future-proof archive

The optional P5 Archive DLM (Data Lifecycle Management) component makes the archive future-proof. Rule-based migration, replication, tiering, verification, and storage analysis allow you to flexibly adapt to changes in storage strategy, security requirements, or even costs.
