The Broadcom 9500 Series of 12 Gbps HBAs for SAS/SATA/PCIe (NVMe) Gen4 includes tri-mode storage adapters that provide server OEMs and data centers with high flexibility and performance at the lowest cost. Tri-mode SerDes technology allows them to use NVMe, SAS or SATA devices in a single drive bay. Based on Broadcom's SAS3816 and SAS3808 eight lane host PCIe-to-SAS/SATA/PCIe IOC controllers, the adapters are capable of accessing both PCIe Gen 4.0 host and PCIe Gen 4.0 storage interfaces. PCIe Gen 4.0 also guarantees high performance by allowing twice the bandwidth to be used over it, which translates into 75 percent more input/output operations (IOPS).
