In the 2U GPU server ESC4000 G4 with Intel processors from the Xeon family, four double-deck GPU cards do the actual floating-point computing work. Its RAID mass storage with eight LFF SATA hard disk bays, the redundant power supplies and its 8+3 PCIe slots complete the coherent equipment list. The fast server offers terrific computing performance, enormous scalability and high energy efficiency.High-density computing is specifically designed to fit more computing power into one rack. The two-rack ESC4000 G4 easily does this by accommodating up to four GPUs for extremely high power density. The ESC4000 G4 supports up to eight PCIe Gen3 x16 slots. This results in high expandability and great compatibility with many expansion cards. Thus, the server works with a large number of GPU cards (NVIDIA Tesla, GridTM and AMD FirePro S series). In addition, there is also a PCIe Gen3 x 24 slot, which can also fit two low-profile HBAs or proprietary network cards with FDR and 10 GbE interface by means of a riser board.

The four height units occupying GPU server from ASUS works with two Intel Xeon processors and can be equipped with up to 3 terabytes of RAM. The eight front-accessible drive bays are unceremoniously docked to the SATA controller. Optionally, there is also a controller for fast SAS disks and SSDs. In addition, the ESC8000 G4 also offers two M.2 interfaces for SSDs (SATA 6 Gbit/s & PCIe Gen3 x4 link 22110/2280/2260), as well as two NVMe slots. (If the latter are used, the number of usable SATA drives is reduced from eight to six). Of its ten PCIe expansion slots, up to eight bays can be used for GPU cards. NVIDIA Tesla V100s are suitable for this, for example. Fully equipped, the fast computing machine achieves around 112 teraflops (Floating Point Operations Per Second) according to Single Precision calculations. For comparison: A server without GPU support calculates floating point operations about 200 times slower.

HBA 1100 Host Bus Adapter

As newly developed host bus adapters, the HBA 1100 models supported SMR HDDs and special command sets (ZAC/ZBC for SAS/SATA SMR drives) for this purpose. They are therefore suitable for cost-effective solutions in the area of hot and cold storage. Since even the current SAS and SATA SSDs can be controlled by the fast HBA. Administrators also rely on HBA 1100 from Microsemi Adaptec for Software Defined Storage such as Microsoft Storage Spaces Direct, VMware vSAN or OpenStack Swift/Ceph.

The 1100 series HBAs feature a x8 PCIe 3.0 bus interface, manage up to 256 SAS/SATA drives and are available in a low-profile MD2 form factor. They offer between 4 and 24 internal ports (SFF-8643) as well as between 8 and 16 external ports (SFF-8644). For example, we like to use the HBA 1100-8i8e, which has eight internal and eight external ports. Meanwhile, their broad operating system support ranges from Microsoft Windows, Red Hat, SuSE, CentOS and Ubuntu to VMware ESXi, FreeBSD, Solaris and Citrix XenServer.

SmartHBA 2100 Host Bus Adapter

The developers optimized the sophisticated SmartHBA 2100 adapters especially for SDS applications (software-defined storage), so that they can also be used as hardware RAID for boot drives. They also provide enterprises with entry-level RAID protection.

SmartHBA 2100 simultaneously provides hardware RAID support and powerful HBA capabilities in the same solution. This allows combined use of RAID drives and uninitialized drives (raw devices) at RAID levels 0, 1, 10 and 5. A special feature is its configuration with more than eight ports: You can even protect up to 24 internal ports via RAID. The SmartIOC 2100 processor also manages up to 256 SAS/SATA drives on an eight-lane PCIe 3.0 bus interface. The low-profile adapters (MD2) can be used under Microsoft Windows, Red Hat, SuSE, CentOS, Ubuntu, VMware ESXi, FreeBSD, Solaris, Citrix XenServer.

SmartRAID 3100 RAID Adapter

The 12 Gbps SmartRAID 3100 series RAID adapters also deliver maximum read and write bandwidth via SSD, as well as maximum IO rates for performance-intensive transaction and database applications. Its read and write cache (DRAM) continues to provide high acceleration for attached RAID drives.

In addition to the latest SmartRAID 3162 subfamily, Microsemi Adaptec also supplies other RAID models with up to 24 ports. All series (3162, 3154, 3152, 3102, 3151, 3101) handle RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, 60, 1 ADM and 10 ADM. Like HBA from the same company, the RAID adapters from the 3100 family also manage 256 SAS/SATA drives under the operating systems Microsoft Windows, Red Hat, SUSE, Fedora, Debian, Ubuntu Linux, Sun Solaris, FreeBSD and VMware ESXi.

Series 8 RAID Adapters

The PCIe 3.0 SAS/SATA RAID adapters of the 8 series with 12 Gbps meet all storage requirements. From entry-level to particularly demanding applications. The RAID 8805E supports hardware RAID levels 0, 1, 10 or hybrid RAID 1, 10. It makes a start – at a particularly favourable price. Model RAID 8885Q on the other hand already shines with SSD caching. And also work with hardware RAID0, 1, 1E, 5, 6, 10, 50, 60 as well as hybrid RAID1, 10.

All Series 8 products feature a x8 PCIe 3.0 host bus interface with a 12 Gbps ROC processor. They use a low-profile MD2 design (64 mm x 167 mm) and also command up to 256 SAS/SATA drives. They furthermore support a lot of OS. Microsoft Windows, Red Hat, SUSE, Fedora, Debian, Ubuntu, Sun Solaris, FreeBSD and VMware ESXi.

FAQ Support
Is there a support hotline?

Starline offers excellent technical support. We have adept technicians who can be reached via mail, phone and even remote support. Our support hours: Weekdays at +49(0)7021-487 200 or email support@starline.de from 8:30am to 5:00pm (Friday until 4:30pm).

In addition, we offer special service contracts that guarantee that a technician will come to you within four hours at any time of the day or night.

How do I quickly get an exchange for a defective component?

The fastest option is Bring in Service (free of charge within the three-year warranty). You then bring the defective server or RAID system to us in Kirchheim and the fault is rectified here after a performance, function and health check. Incidentally, it is also possible to extend the warranty period to five years.

Where can I get the serial number of the system?

We will be happy to search for the relevant information for you. For complete systems, please send us the serial number of one of the installed drives (HDDs/SSDs) to info@starline.de and we will find out the number.

What is the default password for my system?

Please call +49 (0)7021-487 200 or e-mail support@starline.de from 8:30am to 5:00pm (Friday until 4:30 p.m.) on weekdays for the current system password.

I have an older server. Do you still have spare parts and extensions?

We are proud of our large stock and like to shine with it. So if you have an older system that you need a spare part for, we are very likely to be able to supply it. We keep hardware in stock long after the warranty period has expired. This is because we also take care to provide support for as long as possible when selecting our products.
